The Basics

Located in Budapest’s District V, St. Stephen’s Basilica is a grand cathedral and worship space that accommodates upward of 8,000 parishioners. Featuring a colonnaded entryway, the facade is adorned with carvings of the apostles. Go on your own or join a sightseeing tour, most of which stop by the popular attraction. And if you’re a music enthusiast, check out one of the basilica’s frequent organ recitals—many are free.

Lovely music and venue. Followed by an equally beautiful view from the river with good food and good wine.

Enjoyable evening of music

Organ Concert in the St. Stephen's Basilica with Optional Danube Cruise
Spent about 70 minutes listening to the organ soloist, an operatic male singer and a flutist both accompanied by the organ. Can recommend the concert but the caveat that you enjoy organ music first.

All quite good, except the transfer.

Organ Concert in the St. Stephen's Basilica with Optional Danube Cruise
The organ concert was very good, with an orderly ticket process, and the Danube cruise w/two drinks was lovely -- but transferring from the church to a somewhat chaotic meeting point and the walk down a dark path to the dock needs reevaluation.

We only attended the concert without the dinner. If you like organ music, you will love hearing it in the Basilica!

I am truly glad I had the opportunity to experience such a gorgeous church and the wonderful music played. There was organ music, a flute player and male singer. They were all lovely.

Organ Concert in the St. Stephen's Basilica with Optional Danube Cruise
Our visit to the Organ Concert at St Stephen's Basilica was the high light of our ten day visit to Budapest. The live performance in the Cathedral with the organ, flute and voice far exceeds that what can be experienced listening to a CD. One can understand how the composers and musicians sought to create music in such a beautiful setting that uplifts the soul of all who hear and experience the performance.

Organ Concert in the St. Stephen's Basilica with Optional Danube Cruise
The concert in this lovely, grand church featured both Hungarian and international classics. Our program, which ran on Thursday evenings included works by Vivaldi, Bach, Albinoni, Mozart, Schubert, Listz and Bizet. The musicians included the organist, a flautist as well as one of Hungary's most famous concert and oratorio singers. A delightful evening sure to be enjoyed by any music lover.
