The basics

Whether you’re visiting Salzburg on a guided day trip, as part of a walking tour, or planning an extended stay, the cathedral is a must-visit. The history of Salzburg Cathedral is a history of destruction and restoration. There’s been a sacred building on the site since the 8th century, yet the current building was constructed in the 17th century, damaged in bombing raids in the Second World War and was extensively repaired in the 1950s. Several interesting items in the Cathedral speak to its long history - the bronze baptismal font dates from the 1300s and was used to baptize Mozart himself; the two relics containing the remains of Austrian saints Rupert and Virgil, a holy Irishman and astronomer who came to Austria in the 8th century. Head down to the crypt to see the foundations of earlier versions of the church.

Mark made the trip special.
I had a wonderful day in Salzburg thanks to Mark the tour guide who made the trip a lot of fun. He was very knowledgeable and led us to as many sights as possible. I will definitely go back to Salzburg again.

Salzburg Small-Group Day Trip from Vienna
The best experience I have ever had! Enjoyed everything about the tour/trip. Very well organized. Amazing tour guides and driver. Very comfortable and clean transportation. Everything was perfect…visited many beautiful towns and Salzburg was such a beautiful city. We took lots of pictures where the movie sound of music was filmed. I highly recommend this trip. I will definitely book all my future trips/tours with White Alligator tours… thank you all for a wonderful trip to remember.

Seeing the Compound of the Cathedral church and Mozart’s house. The city itself seems to have a tremendous life and history. View of the mountain and the castle and the church itself is magnificent. Our guide Karlota was great - she has a great sense of humor. She is knowledgeable and also very helpful. It was a great experience. Thank you!

Salzburg Small-Group Day Trip from Vienna
This was just an amazing experience! Although Salzburg is quite far away from Vienna, our driver Peter was entertaining us with interesting facts about Vienna and Austria, also there were several stops to have some rest and take awesome photos and enjoy the picturesque places! We also liked a lot Salzburg. Peter told us that our guide Maria is the best and this is 100% true! This tour is much much recommended!!! Thanks a lot to the organizers! ❤️

Awesome Guide... The Train Might Be Late.

Salzburg Sightseeing Small-Group Day Tour from Munich by Rail
It was a wonderful trip! The only drawback is that the train was late, which shortened the tour. This was not the fault of our guide. It is just something to keep in mind for the tour. The guide did try to speed up our tour to allow us some time to explore the city, which I appreciated.

Salzburg's Old Town Private 1-Day Trip from Munich by Car
Our guide, Natalie was excellent. Our driver to and from was also excellent. I got an email the day before the trip saying gasoline had increased 50% since we booked. Instead of $800 it should be $1400 but they will settle for $1200. If I want to continue I will need to give the driver $400 cash on the spot. We did and loved it, but how much did gas go up? We all road in the same car. This company might be a big scam.
