The Basics

Verona’s Roman Arena is the symbol of the UNESCO World Heritage–listed city center and one of its most popular sights. Though much of the original pink-and-white limestone outer facade was pilfered at the end of the Roman Empire and a catastrophic earthquake in 1117 destroyed the rest, the interior and outstanding acoustics remain remarkably intact. In the 19th century, the city began using the arena once again to hold performances, and a staging of Verdi’sAida in 1913 to celebrate the composer’s 100th birthday marked its reincarnation as one of Italy’s most important outdoor theaters.

By day, you can book a Verona Arena tour with skip-the-line entrance to the amphitheater or join a small-group walking tour of the city’s highlights, including the arena as well as Piazza delle Erbe, Castelvecchio, Torre dei Lamberti, and the Basilica di San Zeno Maggiore. On summer evenings, you can book a ticket for the annual opera festival or other event, and enjoy the arena decked out for a performance.

Amazing informative and fun tour of the Verona Arena!
Our tour guide was great he had a terrific sense of humor and added many interesting facts to the tour! The tour was during the opera festival so we had the added bonus of seeing amazing sets around the exterior of the arena. We learned many additional facts about Verona as well. Make sure to have plenty of water as the sun is extra strong inside the arena.

Tour to the Arena di Verona at the Gladiator's Time
Very interesting tour with historic facts and stories about the building, the Roman and medieval use of the arena, the emperors and gladiators. Fabio is an entertaining and pleasant guide to listen to, also for children (ours 13 yrs old). Absolutely recommended.

Verona and Lake Garda Day Trip from Milan
It's a good idea that you provided the tour participants the direct contact number of the tour guide as it made the line of communication easier and got the needed help faster. I'm glad that I took the day tour from your good tour company. The tour guides Alberto & Andre plus the driver were really good, funny, kind and provided us the important information that we need to know as a Tourist. It was a fantastic experience and worth my money👌😊 Bravo! 😊👏👏

Arena di Verona Opera Ticket Package
Great tour of the highlights of Verona, finishing off with an amazing experience at the opera! It was surreal to be in this ancient arena! Only reason I gave 4 stars, though, was that it wasn’t communicated that we couldn’t bring our water bottles in as well as long lens cameras into the arena. We had to find lockers in a sketchy alley down the road to lock up our water bottles and camera.
