There are few places in all of Hawaii more historic than Kealakekua Bay, as it's the spot where Captain Cook was killed in a skirmish with native Hawaiians, and the Hawaiian monarch, King Kamehameha III was born just a few miles away. The history aside, it's also one of the best places to snorkel on the Big Island of Hawaii, and you'll have the chance to experience the beauty on this snorkeling tour from Kona. Search for dolphins on the way to the bay while admiring the volcanic coast, and after scouring the red for coral and fish, climb aboard for a lunch that's served by the friendly crew.
  • Visit historic Kealakekua Bay
  • View Humpback whales in winter
  • Cruise the volcanic Kona coast

Had so much fun! Saw whales, dolphins, sea turtles and so many different species of fish. Captain Simon and Adam were amazing, I loved learning all of the history of the Hawaiian coast. 10/10!
Great half day tour!

Great tour guide. Sandwiches were good for lunch. Plenty of snorkel time (over an hour). Lucked out and saw a whale breach, manta ray and spinner dolphins.
Good Times and Surprises

Beautiful reef communities, refreshments, interesting conversations, and a spectacular view of the coast. Glad that I booked this trip. I mean the crew was fantastic. We even saw a manta ray and a whale and her calf on the boat ride. Highly recommended
Amazing experience
, Jan 2022
We went out in a day with high surf, and the ride was wild, but K bay was calm and beautiful. We were lucky and on the trip back saw manta rays, baby humpback, spinner dolphins! The guide Adam was great, Captain was awesome, and there was plenty of food and drinks for lunch. Appreciate the efforts of Adam G. and Captain Jacob!!! If you have a preschool aged child who hasn’t gone snorkeling before, just plan to do ride along with them. It’s great snorkeling but no where to put your feet down or get onshore, just the boat. Also if you want a more relaxed snorkeling experience and are not experienced, get the life vest so you can just float along. Well worth it!!!!
A big island must do!!

Best excursion ever! The crew is awesome and the boat ride and snorkeling were amazing! We saw dolphins and whales! The photos I took were great but couldn’t get them to upload so I put them on Instagram. Can’t recommend the Hang Loose crew and the Captain Cook tour enough!

This trip was iconic! Absolutely a must do. This gave us the true feeling of tropical vacation. The guides Jacob and Hunter were great and also gave some amazing history information. I learned so much more to respect about the Hawaiian culture. The reef was absolutely breath taking and we saw so many different kinds of fish. We also saw two different sets of dolphins. Thank you!

Best sea tour ever!
, Jan 2022
In the morning of the tour, we were still hesitating because 3 out of 4 in my family may get sea sick. However, the experience is such a blast and we had so much fun! Highly recommended to families with children!
Wild fun ride
