On this small-group Grand Teton wildlife safari, join a local naturalist and guide for a ride in an open-air safari vehicle on dirt roads and on paved highways within Grand Teton National Park, where you scour the landscape at dawn or dusk for wolves, moose, and elk. Look for eagles soaring overhead or deer walking through the woods, and there’s even the chance you could spot a bear roaming near the road. From Teton Village near Jackson Hole, hop in a customized open-air vehicle (weather dependent), for a journey out on the rugged terrain of Grand Teton National Park. From the comfortable seat of your open-air vehicle, gaze up at the craggy summit of Grand Teton—the tallest mountain in the park—all the while feeling the wind in your hair as you journey out towards the woods. In the fall and winter, when the temperature drops, tours take place in a safari-style vehicle that’s enclosed for comfort and warmth, and these small group tours have only nine passengers in summer, and 10 passengers in winter.

During this Grand Teton wildlife tour, scour a part of the 310,000 acres that comprise the national park. Scan the landscape for the 60 species of mammals that live in the park, and keep an eye out overhead for over 300 species of birds. With binoculars provided by your local guide, try to spot elk, bears, bison, mule deer, moose, or wolves, and keep a lookout for ospreys, owls, hawks, and soaring bald eagles. You might even have a chance at seeing black and grizzly bears.

Aside from the wealth of wildlife, you also experience the Snake River scenery as backed by the jagged mountains, and your guide will explain the geology and ecology before returning to Teton Village.

Note: Summer tours run from June 15 to August 31, and fall/winter tours are September 1 to June 14. Hotel pickup in the Jackson Hole area is available upon request.
Stop At:
Grand Teton
Elk, moose, mule deer, pronghorn, bison, bighorn sheep, grizzly and black bear, and wolves can all be seen within the park boundaries. Animal species that can be viewed will change throughout the year due to different seasonal changes in Grand Teton National Park. Grand Teton National Park is also a spring and summer birders paradise. You will have opportunity to see bald and golden eagles, sandhill cranes, osprey, hawks, and owls. This tour also covers the human and natural history of Grand Teton National Park as well as the diverse geology within the park. Frequent stops will be made to observe and photograph the various wildlife and landmark points of interest.

Kenny our tour guide did an amazing job showing us wildlife through the Grand Teton Mountains. It was a very memorable experience. I highly recommend anyone who wants to see wildlife through the Grand Teton Mountains.
Beautiful tour with wonderful guide

Kevin was a great guide, very attentive to our comfort and he knew lots about the geography and history from the perspective of someone who grew up here. We got to see pronghorns (including fawns!), elk, mule deer and moose - very close up on the two moose and the pronghorns! No bears on our trip, but that's the way it is, and he certainly tried. It's just a beautiful drive as well with incredible views, and we got to see evening glow. Kevin's love of this land and its animals was a special part of the experience.

Meg, our tour guide was fantastic. She arrived to pick us up at our hotel on time. She had snacks and drinks prepared for the day. She also provided binoculars for the group. She was very informative about the parks history as well as the animals found within the park. We managed to see a good amount of wildlife in the snow. We also stopped at a few historical sites to take pictures. There were plenty of places to stop and use a restroom and although it was 14 degrees, the van was well heated during the trips to different destinations. I would highly recommend the 4 hour dawn trip 7am-11am. It was the highlight of our stay in Jackson, WY.

Great tour, Viator terrible service
, Nov 2021
the actual tour itself was great and I would give it 5 stars we had so much fun, however I would give Viator zero stars for the booking experience if I could. Viator sent me confirmations however I never sent our booking to the tour company we got up at 5:30 to be ready at 6:30 and they never showed up because Viator failed to do their one job. They were very unhelpful and rude on the phone and blamed me for not contacting the company myself beforehand. Luckily the company was nice enough to take us out later but I will NOT be trusting Viator ever again.

What the trip was worth
, Oct 2021
Seeing the Grand Teton, visiting Jenny Lake, seeing a bear eat fruits from a berry tree. However, we didn't ride in an open safari van but a closed van due to cold weather. They let us borrow binoculars. Some snacks along the way. Not much wildlife to see up close.

Our guide was very knowledgeable and very passionate about history , I was a bit disappointed as we booked an open vehicle tour and did not realize it would be enclosed - views are amazing, just wish we would have seen more wildlife
an enjoyable tour

the tour guild was very pleasant and knowledgeable. we saw a reasonable number of animals and went to areas that may not have been obvious
Wonderful wildlife excursion!
, Sep 2021
Our guide, Kim was wonderful! She was very friendly, knowledgeable and took us to all the key places. We got to see a lot of wildlife. She took pictures for us through her high powered scope and sent them to us. I tried to upload them, but wasn’t successful. Loved the open air truck. Only got cold at the very end.
Great if this is your first day in the park.
, Sep 2021
We went on the morning safari ride. It was in an in closed van because the mornings are now very cold. Kim had great knowledge of the area and we saw bison, moose, and prong horn deer. The only downside of this trip is that we went everywhere Kim took us the day before and saw the same animals. I recommend if you do this tour, do it on your first day in the park.
