Awesome tour

Gustavo was an amazing guide. He was so funny and knowledgeable. This tour is a must. Don’t wear sunscreen not needed.

The information and the tour guide was great. I didn’t like the fact that we weren’t able to bring our phones and cameras because the pictures at the end were $99!!
Great adventure!

Charter bus pick up from Playacar was seamless. Guides were great. Equipment was in good condition and comfortable (wet suit, life jacket, water shoes, helmet). Towels and lockers provided. Bathroom available at bus arrival and again at entrance to cave. We didn’t care so much for the lunch. It was dry and uneventful. I would skip lunch option next time. Otherwise, highly recommend. The guides were helpful with my 72 year old mom who needed a walking stick (provided) and hand holding. My mom has a bad knee and is not active, but managed fine and enjoyed the tour.
Good job Viktor

Beautiful adventure

We were picked up at our hotel, stopped once to pick up other guests from another hotel on the way. Checking in was made easy by our driver- took the bus back into the jungle, put on the wetsuit, shoes and helmet and off we went into the underground river system! The water was refreshing and so so clear. The guide, Rudolpho, spoke perfect English and was wonderful. The lunch was a great end to a fantastic adventure. Highly recommend!

Diana was an excellent tour guide had so much patience and was really knowledgeable. We went in the cenote named Happiness and it was stunning. I 100% recommend this tour and will be back to check out other tours in Rio Secreto. If you're on the fence about booking this tour you totally should, you won't regret it. Also, lunch was delicious.

Unique in every way

Done many cave tours around world- even another while in water and have to say, this was a unique way to experience underground beauty. Appreciated the small group size and guide’s efforts to ensure a fun, safe informative activity. 2 senior ladies that had a blast! Water inside cave is fresh rainwater source to area. Wear the offered wet suits- 64 degree H2O - some in the group chose not to and we had some good laughs as one guy in particular kept LOUDLY gasping EVERY time water got deep. Inside cave about 1.5 hr, provided with walking sticks as they ask you not to touch the rock-face; it is helpful to be friendly to strangers in party by offering a steadying hand now and again to each other as you single file climb up, through and around rocks. Provided lunch was very tasty and fun to try local ethnic foods. Great guide! We left from Cancun and traveled by bus to Playa Del Carmen area for tour. Good confirmation communication from tour prior to excursion and they were right on time for pick up. Highly recommend if you are looking for something to do a bit different on a return visit to the area or you want to add a unique adventure to your Riviera Maya trip!
Splendid excursion

I was a little skeptical after booking this tour. I paid at the time of booking for the tour and the transportation to be picked up & dropped off at our resort. After three days I still hadn't heard from Viator to make transportation arrangement. I mean, how do they know which resort I was staying at. I called the number provided and in a few minutes the transportation info was taken care of. Would have been nice if there was a place somewhere in the booking process to provide that information but there wasn't. The shuttle bus was supposed to pick us up at our resort at 9:20AM but didn't arrive until 9:55AM. No big deal but couldn't help but thinking they forgot to pick us up... In any event, the ride took about an hour to get there. On our way there our shuttle bus got rear ended by an BMW SUV. There was no damage done to our shuttle and very little to the BMW. All was good and we were on our way. Once we arrived at what we thought was out destination we were given an overview of the tour, placed in groups and provided our guide plus a photographer. No cell phones or cameras are allowed. Nope, we weren't there yet. Loaded up into a van and down a dusty & bumpy dirt road we went. After about a 10-15 minute drive we finally arrived at our final destination. There we were provided with water shoes, life vest, helmet, helmet light and an optional walking stick made out of PVC. I highly recommend you take the walking stick. Not so much to help you walk or balance but to probe the water in front of you. 9 out of 10 of us had the walking stick and the only one who didn't wished he had used one. There's a place to change clothes and a locker is provided free of charge to place your belongings in while you're on the underground tour. A quick mandatory rinse in the outdoor shower then your ready to put your equipment on. A short little walk and down a narrow dirt/rock path and you're underground with only a little bit of light showing. There you'll be introduced to the crystal clear water and to the beautiful cave walls & ceilings. There's quite a bit of walking involved but not to worry it's an easy walk, the group moves slowly listening to the guide and taking in the beautiful sights. For much of the time you will be wading in water less than knee deep. There are however, places that are about waist deep and I think one place that's 5 1/2' deep but you can walk around it if you prefer. Towards the end of the tour there's places where you float in the water for a couple hundred yards, very nice & peaceful. The water moves very slowly so don't expect any rapids. It's quite the opposite, the water is very calm with very little movement. If you look carefully, you can find little fish in the underground river. Oh, and if you're lucky, you'll may see a bat or two flying high in one of the caverns. Before you know it, the tour is at its end. A short 5-10 minute walk and you're back where you started from to return your borrowed equipment and rinse off again at the outdoor showers. From there you'll be taken to a restaurant where you'll be treated to a nice little lunch. There's not much of a choice but it's included with the tour and you can have as much as you'd like. This is also the place where you can purchase photos which the photographer took of you and of the group on the tour. This is where you have to make a decision. who wouldn't want a few photos of your adventure? Here's the catch, each photo costs $25 each or $100 for all the photos of you and your partner. I think there was about 12 photos in all. That's not all of it. Get this, the price only gets you a web address & password. You have to download then print the photo yourself. If they would have at least given you an actual photograph I would have bought more but I just ended up purchasing one of the photos. That's about all the insight I have for this tour. In closing: Besides the outrageous cost of the photos, I really enjoyed this tour and highly recommend it. It'll be something you will remember forever....
