We booked an English tour. Our guide did speak English, however, the other 4 people who booked this tour only spoke broken English so our guide spent the majority of the trip giving the tour in Spanish. The three in MY group were in the very back of an 8-passenger van where the air vents were very loud and we could not hear any of the tour. What we did manage to hear was added in between the Spanish explanation very quickly and we couldn't really figure out what the discussion was about at that point. The van was not equipped with a microphone. Also, the 8-passenger van was not an ideal transport for seeing many of the site if you were unfortunate to have to sit in the middle seats of the van. There are 2 very brief stops where we could get out of the van to take pictures but this 2-hour van ride was absolutely not worth the time or the money. You are best to schedule a walking tour with a local.

One of the best benefits of the tour was the 24-hour card which provided free or reduced-price entry to so many interesting and important areas of Salzburg. Enjoyed the drive to areas off the beaten-track which we would not have seen otherwise. Our tour guide was a bit too eager to share "Sound of Music" songs with us; if we'd wanted that, we'd have signed up for an SOM tour!

Salzburg is such a beautiful city that any tour is certainly wonderful. And this one gives you a nice overview. My issue with this tour was more about its organization. Apparently, I was the only English speaker signed up in my time slot -- which the company surely knew since I signed up only a day or two before. But, rather than contact me to see if I could switch to a different time, they decided last minute to just put me into a German-speaking tour! While the guide did the best he could to give me my own personal translation, I still missed out on 80 of the tour! One would think the company would've given me a partial refund as a token gesture of apology, but they didn't. One other note: There is a bit of an overlap between this tour and the Sound of Music tour. If you can only do one, do the Sound of Music! The 24-hour Salzburg Card is great, but you can get that separately.

This tour was good to get your bearings and to learn a little bit of history. Having the 24 hour Salzburg card makes the remainder of your day more pleasurable as nearly all sites and lifts in town are covered. Recommend to begin early so you can take advantage of the afternoon with the card so as to visit as many places as is possible.

The tour of Salzburg was informative and the driver took the time to answer questions and orient us to the town. We all got out of the van and walked around the trick fountains and the mansion made famous in "The Sound of Music". We toured in the first days of spring, when tourism was light. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting the city.

The tour was quite nice but very brief, however the 24 Hour Salzburg Card is brilliant. The Card is great value and with a little planning you can get most of the major sites well visited within the Card's time limit. The Card's clock does not start until you scan in at the first location visited.
