Cooking class in Taormina With Chef Massimo

Massimo was friendly, knowledgeable and committed to teaching us about how choose fresh fish, meat and vegetables. His knowledge and skill as a Chef is clear and his ability to teach and keep everyone involve was excellent. Best part…the meal we made was exceptional.

Cooking with Massimo was the BEST! I’ve taken several cooking classes abroad and his far outweighed the others. Massimo is enthusiastic, very knowledgeable and paces the class well. For all the time and value we got from our cooking class and visit to the market the price is a steal. I highly recommend this for solo travelers, couples, friends, and families. We will definitely be back next time we are in Taormina. Note: Massimo also has vegan friendly options and makes the class just as hands on and fun!

It was great to visit the market with Chef Massimo - he gave lots of tips on shopping for the best produce and when to avoid buying. He selected the best of what was available on the day for our group of 5 to cook. We made pasta with Norma sauce. Sea bass in white wine, capers, olives and cherry tomatoes, Tuma cheese fried in a breadcrumb and herb mixture. Mussels, Veal Meatballs in lemon leaves and caponata. It was all served with some delicious wines. We had the best day at this wonderful house overlooking the sea and left with some excellent new skills. Thank you Chef Massimo it was the best! If you are looking for a cookery class - this is the one to do, we had so much fun! You will not be disappointed!

We had a beautiful day with Chef Massimo. The other members of the group were friendly and we had many laughs together. We also learned a lot about Sicilian cooking. The location did require some ability to climb hills unless one wanted to pay for a taxi. The view was great. The meal was delicious: seafood, chicken, beef, sautéed vegetable salad and, of course, pasta and sauce.

The cooking class with Chef Massimo was beyond fabulous. Chef Massimo met our group at the Messina gate, then took us to a local market to discuss the right ingredients and acquire the fresh ingredients for the day. Afterwards, he arranged a taxi to take us to his Villa for the cooking and eating. His Villa was a beautiful home located on the slopes overlooking the seaside area of Taormina. We were a group of 6 and began to prepare the meal. Everyone participated and it was great fun. First we made pasta and he taught us how to roll the pasta from dry material into various shapes of pasta. Next we cut and diced various veggies including eggplant, peppers and others to make Caponata. He showed us how to prepare artichoke into a “cup” that then received a pork and cheese mixture, which was then baked. The final main course was Calamari mixed with breadcrumbs, tomatoes, basil, olive oil then baked until crispy fresh sea bass. Massimo showed us how to prepare the entire fish and explained the benefits of cooking the fish with all of its parts. We sat as a group and consumed the awesome meal that we had all prepared together. It was an incredible experience that we will not soon forget. Massimo’s passion for food and the ingredients was the clear and consistent message.

This was an amazing experience, not just fun but educational! Massimo is a wonderful patient teacher and the end result - lunch with the rest of the group - incredible. Very well organised, beautiful view from Massimo’s house, one of my favourite experiences of our trip! Well worth every penny. Thanks again!

This was a highlight on our trip to Taormina! Massimo was very informative not only when we were cooking but also during our market tour. We all leaned not only how to prepare a delicious meal, but also how to use traditional preparations for a multitude of meats and fish. We will not soon forget this incredible day nor our new friend in Taormina!!
